For the visitor
Marvel at the maritime history of the Netherlands at a choice place such as the Traditional Ships Fair in Den Helder. Learn about the different types of ships that have been preserved through centuries of sailing and weather and wind. And step aboard these amazing ships, during the weekend itself, or during an amazing trip. At the fair you can get inspiration about the different ships on which you can still go on an adventure.

The Traditional Ships Fair will be held at the old naval complex Willemsoord. An indoor fair will be held in the Kampanje city hall. There will be many things to see and do around the building. In the Medembliker warehouse (next to the stock exchange building) you can view different methods of woodworking, the various harbors will be full of traditional ships, large and small. Several ships will be open to the public and here you will be able to get a nice glimpse into life on board.

In the exhibition building you can also find inspiration for a trip on board a ship. Think of a beautiful trip around the Wadden Islands, or an adventure abroad on board a Dutch sailing ship. Do you want to go to the sun or to the ice, to the Cape Verde Islands, the Channel Islands, the Danish Islands, the deserted islands along the Scottish coast or the peninsulas of Antarctica?

Your admission ticket to the fair will also serve as admission to the Reddingmuseum and the Marinemuseum, both within walking distance of the exhibition hall.

For the participant who visits
The Traditional Ships Fair is organized for and by ship owners who want to involve more people in our heritage. Who want to continue with their business and learn more about preserving their ship. What the fair has to offer you is a platform to exhibit your goods, services or knowledge. It also gives you the opportunity to increase your own knowledge or that of your employees or volunteers.

During the fair you can participate in various workshops that can teach you more about regulations, finding and retaining customers, building a wooden boat or making rope.

We also hope that you will be able to brush up on all your contacts at the fair, perhaps purchase the necessary maintenance equipment for the winter and exhibit your own wares well.
