Lecture on 200 years of the North Holland Canal
During the EOC Traditional Ships Fair, a lecture by Bert Siezen on the construction of the Noordhollandskanaal is part of the ongoing theater program ‘Voor de mast’. This 82-kilometer long waterway between Den Helder and Amsterdam was built between 1819 and 1824 under the direction of the Inspector General of Waterways and Public Works Jan Blanken Jansz. At the end of 1824, the canal, then the largest in the world, was put into use. The lecture is tentatively scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
